Your vote, your voice

Enrolement forms

A date for an Australian Federal Government election has now been set for Saturday 7 September. As you may know, Federal elections are held to elect representatives to both the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Ensure you have a voice in the upcoming election by enrolling to vote. The Commonwealth Electoral roll will close Monday 12 August at 8pm, and if you’re not enrolled you will not be able to vote.

As well as ensuring you will be able to vote, by law all Australian citizens aged 18 and older must enrol and vote in Federal elections and referendums. For some students, this may be your first opportunity to participate in our democracy.

Enrolling is quick and easy to do, and will only take you around five minutes. In fact, you can even enrol on your smartphone or tablet, so you can do it conveniently while on the go. To enrol or check whether you have enrolled, please visit the Australian Electoral Commission website (opens in a new window). If you have recently moved house, you can also update your name and address online via the AEC Update Enrolment webpage (opens in a new window).

Once you have enrolled, you will be able to vote at your local polling place on election day.

The deadline for enrolling is fast approaching – don’t leave it until it’s too late.
