Lecturer spotlight: Rebecca Olson
Dr Rebecca Olson is a lecturer within the University's School of Science and Health, and is based on the Campbelltown campus. Rebecca is also the course advisor for the Masters of Health Science and Public Health programs and is a member of the School Academic Committee.
What do you teach?
I teach Population Health, Public Health and Health Promotion.
I also supervise Honours and Higher Degree Research (HDR) students who are completing Qualitative Health research.
What was your first job?
I started teaching dance at age 14.
What do you love most about teaching?
I love watching that ‘aha’ moment, in tutorials and assessments, when a student really gets it!
What will we find you doing when you are not at UWS?
Walking my Doberman called Shrimp or taking a dance class.

I am passionate about ‘action research’, where findings lead to informed policy decision-making and improvements in health.
What is the best advice you have ever received?
Most people spend the majority of their adult life at work – make sure your work is something you love.
