Government Relations
Government relations is particularly important for UWS given our mission which focuses both on the people of Greater Western Sydney and the key leadership role that UWS plays in addressing the needs, opportunities and issues of the region. Our six campuses span a region which encompasses 14 local government areas, 22 State and 12 Federal electorates.
It has become increasingly important for UWS to have a coordinated, strategic and systematic approach to government relations across the three levels of government and with key regional government organisations.
UWS enjoys good relations with all levels of government: federal, state and local. Given that, in many respects, the University and government share the same key interests and constituency – i.e. the community – it is apparent that many synergies exist regarding priorities. The University’s successful development to a great extent depends on a progressive and engaged relationship with government. This is why government relations is important to the University.
