Description

Approaching or working with others when there is a perceived conflict can seem difficult or overwhelming. Understanding our own responses to conflict, adopting a different attitude and using effective communication skills can assist enormously. This practical one-day workshop focuses on the strategies and skills for effectively communicating with others to confidently manage potential conflict situations in one-to-one and team situations.

Topics include:

  • a model for communication
  • active listening and assertiveness
  • problem ownership
  • identifying personal strengths
  • areas to strengthen.

Learning Objectives

This workshop will enable participants to:

  • identify problems in communication and where the responsibilities lie
  • demonstrate active listening - an essential and key skill for effective communication
  • demonstrate a three-step framework for communicating assertively
  • state the 12 road blocks to effective listening
  • review and plan a four-step process to a courageous conversation.

This course is part of the Career Development program.
