Orientation for New Staff
Intended for new academic and general staff.
Description
All staff who are new to UWS should attend this Orientation Session. The three hour session provides an overview of UWS, its history and growth, strategic directions, and governance and management structure. Staff will also receive an introduction to the ITC desktop system, and the UWS website to enable them to search and find key policies, personnel and useful information such as staff benefits, career development opportunities and support services available.
All staff working at a university are public officials and as such need to be aware of their role and responsibilities as a public officer. This session will also enable you to become familiar with some of the key policies to ensure a safe and fair workplace for staff and students such as the Code of Conduct, Email and IT Acceptable Use of Resources, Privacy and Right to Information, Bullying and Sexual Harassment Prevention. Staff from various areas in the University will be available to answer any questions.
Staff should discuss their specific training needs with their supervisor. Staff are also expected to complete the online module UWS Online Orientation and training in the following areas relevant to their role and responsibilities:
