UWS Staff Postgraduate Study Scholarships

UWS is now offering UWS Postgraduate Study Scholarships to staff!  Applications for scholarships are now open for postgraduate courses at UWS, for study in 2012.

An exciting initiative of the Our People 2015 staffing strategy, and part of UWS’ commitment to staff professional and career development, the scholarships offer reduced fees for staff undertaking postgraduate UWS courses via coursework.

The scholarships support staff in achieving postgraduate qualifications in management, leadership and a range of disciplines that will support their career planning and development.

The scholarships are available annually to both academic and general staff and provide reduced tuition fees at the rate of $1000 per unit.

An example of how the cost of a UWS Master of Business and Commerce degree can be reduced with a UWS Staff Postgraduate Study Scholarship is shown below. The course requires the completion of 8 units and can be completed in 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time.  This example assumes the course is studied part-time, over two years, at four subjects a year.

In addition, you may be able to:

• Receive a FEE-HELP (Higher Education Loan Programme) loan
• Have greater access to library facilities as a staff member
• Claim study leave of up to 5 hours per week
• Claim self education expenses in your tax return

Eligibility to apply

Applications for UWS Postgraduate Study Scholarships are open to Academic and Professional staff who:

• are ongoing, full-time or part-time UWS staff with a minimum of 12 months of continuous service
• can demonstrate how the scholarship will benefit their career and professional development, their organisational unit and/or the University overall
• have been admitted to a UWS postgraduate course or satisfy all criteria for course admittance.

How to apply

Applications for scholarships for courses commencing first semester 2012 close on Wednesday 7 December 2011.
