About Our Future Program
The competitive environment for Australian Universities has changed with the decision by the Commonwealth Government to lift University student enrolment 'caps' from 2012. This means that Universities are able to effectively set their own student recruitment levels, and students have greater choice in where they study. Part of this ext ended range of choices is an increasing availability of courses provided by on-line Universities. We are also aware from student feedback that there is a wish on the part of UWS students for greater flexibility in how, where and when they study.
The University has developed a strategic approach (opens in a new window) (staff login required) (PDF, 56Kb) to respond to the new environment for higher education in Australia.
The changing environment for UWS was the theme for the 2012 UWS Senior Management Conference held in May. The Board of Trustees met in June to consider the strategic priorities that emerged from the discussions at the Senior Management Conference, and approved the Our Future Action Program: 2012-14.
As we launch the Our Future Program the University will be consulting extensively with staff. The Our Future work falls within six broad activity streams:
- Learning and Teaching Flexibility: Beyond the Classroom
- Optimising the Use of the Academic Year and Infrastructure
- Staffing for Development
- Financial Sustainability
- Academic Program and Pathways
- Marketing the University: Branding and Identity
Further information about the six streams listed above will be made available in early 2013. To contact the Our Future Program office, please complete the Contact Us form.
