Academic Development Program

What is Academic Development Program (ADP)

A provision for eligible academic staff to undertake a sustained period of academic development - to assist individual members of the academic staff to pursue research; acquire new skills and knowledge that can be applied to their teaching; or to develop ongoing partnerships with industry that will benefit the University.

Who can apply?

Tenured members of the academic staff of the University will, under normal circumstances, be eligible to apply for ADP if they have completed at least three years continuous service - however please read relevant section of the ADP Policy - Eligibility to Undertake ADP.

If you are uncertain, please contact Kim Nemetz, Executive Officer, Promotions and ADP, Office of People and Culture, for confirmation of your eligibility to apply.

How can I apply?

All applicants will have to meet the assessment criteria as set out in the ADP policy and complete an application template.

Please Note: Applications and any supporting documentation, from you or other parties, must be submitted electronically. Hard copies will not be accepted.

You are strongly advised to discuss your program with your Dean or Director before submitting an application.

Important Dates for 2012

ADP Academic staff information sessions for 2012 will be conducted as follows:

Monday 3 September, 1-3pm at Campbelltown

Tuesday 11 September, 1-3pm at Werrington South

Wednesday 12 September, 1-3pm at Parramatta

Applications close on 22 October 2012.

The Committee will be meeting on 7 December 2012.

What is the process?

Committees will be convened to consider, and make decisions on the applications, in line with the criteria. It is expected that applicants will know of the outcome by December.

What obligations do I have if I am successful?

You must complete the ADP Undertaking Form and Leave and Payment Details Form, and submit to the Office of People and Culture. You also need to submit a report on your ADP on your return. These obligations are further outlined in the ADP Procedures.
