Academic Promotion

Academic promotion is a process whereby academic staff may apply for promotion to a higher level. There are three policies which govern this process and provide all the details on eligibility, criteria and procedures. They are: 

How often is an academic promotion round held?

Once a year but academic staff may not normally apply in consecutive years.

Further Dates:

  • Friday 7 June 2013 - Applications Called
  • Sunday 11 August 2013 - Applications Close
  • August 2013 - Referee reports and Dean/Director reports sought; Request for the names of suitable External Assessors of Level D & E applications sought
  • September 2013 - External Assessor Reports sought
  • October 2013 - Promotion Committees meet
  • November 2013 - Advice of outcomes

Promotion applications must be made on the Application Template which can be accessed via the Associated Information link at Page 1 of each policy. You are strongly encouraged to read the expanded descriptors, Appendix 1 and the Application Guidelines (these documents may also be accessed via the Associated Information link at Page 1 for each policy) as you complete the template.
