Postgraduate Studies

 

Researchers in Philosophy@UWS offer postgraduate supervision in a broad range of areas, including environmental philosophy, ethics, post-structuralism, critical theory, aesthetics, sovereignty, mimetic theory, deconstruction, philosophy of science, moral philosophy, bioethics, literary theory, civil philosophy, psychoanalysis, feminist theory, queer theory, and trauma theory.
 
Postgraduate students can pursue their degrees through the School of Humanities and Communication Arts, which includes the Writing and Society Research Centre.
 
Postgraduate students organise a UWS Student Philosophy Society that hosts public seminars, movie nights, and reading groups. Recent topics of discussion have included the ethics of euthanasia, the (im)morality of suicide, God’s intervention in human affairs, the principle of “just” war, the concept of beauty, the ethics of carnivorism, virtue and happiness, and the merits of democracy.
