Designing for Learning

The University embarked on a bold strategy in 2012 to update its curriculum and approaches to providing learning options for students. By 2016 all undergraduate units will be offered in blended form with a mix of face-to-face and online learning activities. Increasingly, the University will also offer fully online programs through Western Sydney University Online (opens in a new window).

  • Some on campus experiences. When students come on campus the experience is designed to be engaging and an experience worth making the effort to attend and in a space and context designed to foster interactive learning. 
  • On line experiences including synchronous and asynchronous learning activities. This includes structured and self-directed learning activities. 
  • Community and work-based activities. This may include external projects, work placements or community and workplace practice. 

The blended learning strategy was designed to provide more flexibility for students and more engaged learning activities. 

Designing for Learning Quick Bytes

Designing for Learning Quick Bytes (D4Lbytes) is a series of quality educational resources highlighting good practices in teaching and learning. Topics include tips and tricks with digital content creation, innovative pedagogy techniques, technology use or apps for education and practical tips to enhance learning and teaching outcomes.
