Assessment Resources

UWS is committed to improving the quality of assessment for students, and to making clear the criteria and standards against which student work is assessed. The criteria and standards-based assessment policy, and related unit outlines and learning guides policy provide the framework for clarifying assessment expectations.

The Assessment Guide (PDF, 3084.18 KB) (opens in a new window) contains research-led practical advice and examples of criteria and standards for various types of tasks, across a range of disciplines. The Guide articulates a process for developing criteria and standards, describes teaching and learning activities which help students deepen their understanding of expected standards, and discusses criteria and standards as the basis for providing feedback to students.
