Suggested iPad Apps

Once you have your iPad, you will able to download apps from the iTunes store.

The first app you should download is Blackboard Mobile Learn, which will give you access to all of your vUWS sites.

Below are some other UWS-tested apps that you can choose to download. These may assist you with your studies. Please also make sure you complete all of the essential steps for starting at UWS before session begins.

Please note: Downloading these apps is not compulsory. These are suggestions that may assist you in your studies.

Taking notes and annotating documents

	iAnnotate PDF	Read, annotate and highlight PDF documents, add drawings and handwritten notes, manage files and share via email.
	Evernote	Manage and index notes and sync them with your desktop.
	Pages	Edit and format documents. Add images and create footnotes and endnotes.
	Numbers	Read, create and share spreadsheets.
	SignMyPad	Sign and add tick boxes, dates and text fields to PDF documents.
	SoundNote	For audio note-taking. It tracks what you type and draw while recording audio. During playback you can just tap a word to link to that section of the audio.

Productivity

	Dropbox	Store and access files from any device.
	Keynote	Prepare presentations on your iPad.
	iStudiezPro	Schedule classes and maintaining assignment deadlines.

Reading documents

	Good Reader	View, organise and share PDFs and other documents.
	iBooks	An e-reader for iPads. Access ePub content from the iBookstore or iTunes.
	Kindle	Access and read ebooks on your iPad.

Mind mapping and sketching

	Explain Everything	Interactive whiteboard and screen capture with audio capture.
	iThoughtsHD	Mind-mapping application that integrates with Dropbox.
	Paper	Rated best app of 2012. Sketch, draw, paint and share.

Other suggestions

	Aurasma	For augmented-reality use.
	UWS Observatory	Calendar of astronomical events such as eclipses, meteor showers, moon phases and includes a list of public astronomy programs.
