The 2013 Indian Myna Conference is to be held at CSIRO Discovery Centre, Canberra on 19th June 2013. Attendance at the conference is free, although participants will be asked to meet the cost of their lunch.

The conference will hear from a number of top-line speakers in the field of feral animal management and myna research. The success of the Canberra community-action Indian Myna trapping program will be discussed as well as what other groups and councils are doing to get on top of this pest. A report on “best-practice” approaches and options will be produced as an output of the conference.

We see the 2013 Indian Myna Conference as being extremely valuable in informing local communities and environmental and conservation groups of the threat posed by the introduced Indian Myna, and of the actions that are and can be taken to deal with this threat. It will enable participants to learn of each other’s experiences, and will help to galvanise community-action / local government action to implement control programs.
