Be Natural Landcare Grants Program

If you’re interested in getting a local environmental project off the ground, like a community garden, greening an urban space or inner-city veggie patch, the Be Natural Landcare Grants could be just for you.
 
20 grants of up to $2,500 are available for volunteer community groups to work on projects such as building local community gardens or creating indoor edible gardens within community centres while aiming to get more volunteers involved across community oriented environmental projects. Environmental Trust

The NSW Environmental Trust is an independent statutory body established by the NSW government to fund a broad range of organisations to undertake projects that enhance the environment of NSW. Our Place community forum is open to residents of Blue Mountains & Hawkesbury Nepean to find out what places matter to you and how we can help you to care for them. This forum is organised by the University of Western Sydney to give local residents the opportunity to network, share resources, learn more about local services, identify local priority issues and learn new skills. Local Loop

The Local Loop airs on Television Sydney (Digital Channel 44) at 6.45pm every Friday. To get your event or story on the Community Notice Board program contact localloop@lists.uws.edu.au. They record 1 week in advance please make sure you get your event information in early to be possibly included.

Climate Commission

The Climate Commission (opens in a new window) was established to provide all Australians with an independent and reliable source of information about the science of climate change, the international action being taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and the economics of a carbon price.

Western Sydney Community Discussion Paper

A Western Sydney Regional Action Plan (opens in a new window) (PDF, 583Kb) is being developed to identify the immediate actions the NSW Government can take to deliver on community priorities, increase opportunities and improve the quality of life for people living in Western Sydney.

HNCMA Action Plan Update

The Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Management Authority is co-ordinating an upgrade of the Hawkesbury Nepean Catchment Action Plan, 2012-2022.

The Hawkesbury Nepean catchment extends from Putty in the north, past Lithgow to the west, through the Blue Mountains, including large areas of Western Sydney and the southern highlands and tablelands.

The Plan will direct a wide range of Government and community activities which manage the natural resources we depend on. We would like to let you know about what is happening and how you and your organisation or networks, might be involved.

A new CAP for the Hawkesbury Nepean will be submitted by the 1st February 2013, for consideration by the Minister for Primary Industries.

RCE Murray-Darling 

The Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) Murray-Darling's vision is to establish a consortium of key regional stakeholders within and across Murray-Darling communities that will support and promote sustainable development through the integration of research, education and community engagement initiatives. This RCE can be distinguished by its:

• Clear geographical focus on the Murray-Darling Basin
• Specific focus of activity and initiatives on the goal of sustainable development
• Unique strategic approach that integrates research, education, training and community engagement projects and collaborations
