About RCE-GWS

Who? What? Why?

RCE-GWS operates in the most rapidly developing area of Australia. Greater Western Sydney (GWS) is a highly diverse region, has Australia’s third largest economy and faces the distinctive sustainability challenges associated with a rapidly developing, culturally diverse, dispersed peri-urban areas.

Currently there is excellent work taking place in pockets around GWS but this now needs to be identified, illuminated, linked and leveraged.

RCE-GWS sets out to establish itself as a model of how the linked challenges of social, economic and environmental sustainability can be addressed through an integrated process of collaboration. This clip below highlights some of the activities being carried out by our RCE partners across Greater Western Sydney.

Regional Challenges

Four major regional sustainability challenges have been identified in the Greater Western Sydney region. Our partners work together to tackling our regional challenges. Integrating themes that relate directly to these challenges include public health, developing more active lifestyles, living and working productively with diversity, water conservation and economic vitality.

Working Groups

In order to develop and implement strategies RCE-GWS have formed a number of smaller working groups to address and create projects around our regional sustainability challenges.

Our working groups feature both our RCE-GWS partners and external partnerships that aim to achieve change, while providing educational outcomes for our local community and education systems.
