'Muslim Women’s Gender Perceptions in Urban Bangladesh'

Qualifications
Farjana completed her Bachelor of Arts (2004) and Master of Arts (2007) in Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Studies from International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), Bangladesh. Her Honours and Masters’ theses were in the field of Islamic Gender Studies with a focus on Muslim women in Bangladesh.

Research Interests
Farjana’s research interests include Islamic Gender Studies, Human Rights, Bangladesh Studies, History and Sociology.
Her current research is designed to understand and explore the gender perceptions of Muslim women in Bangladeshi society. It will also focus on secularist and Muslim feminism in the context of Bangladesh and the cohesiveness of the prevailing gender perceptions with actual principles and teachings of Islam.

Awards
Farjana is a double gold medallist and graduated with high distinction and received Vice-Chancellor's awards in both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from IIUC, Bangladesh.
