Please note that a 15% infrastructure levy applies to all external research income other than grants income from schemes included in the Australian Competitive Grants Register.
Infrastructure costs such as use of space, services, payroll administration, libraries, insurances, access to electronic resources and equipment account for a significant proportion of the total cost of research at Australian universities. While universities do get research infrastructure support from the Commonwealth on top of grants from funding schemes included in the Australian Competitive Grants Register, this is not the case for funding from other grant bodies and contract research partners. The University therefore needs to apply a levy to all such external research income to meet its infrastructure costs associated with these projects.
