Finding a supervisor

Applicants are strongly advised to discuss their application with an academic advisor. All UWS research candidates have a panel of at least two supervisors. Please refer to the Graduate Supervisor Register (MS Excel, 82Kb).

Support for your Research

UWS provides candidate support and resources. There are internal scholarships, research seminars and workshops. Workshop topics include:

  • presentation skills
  • interpretative and quantitative methodologies
  • architecture of the thesis
  • project management
  • argumentation
  • final stages of thesis preparation.
Candidates are expected to participate and contribute to college conferences and other research events in the school or centre.

All research candidates have at least two supervisors. This is to ensure a range of skills available to the candidate and continuity of supervision during periods of absence of a supervisor. UWS holds supervisor forums for academics to discuss research education practice and changes.
