Associate Professor Moira Carmody from the Centre for Social Justice and Social Change has been investigating the effectiveness of sexual assault prevention education programs, in order to develop a best practice prevention education framework. This project has been funded by the National Association of Services Against Sexual Violence.

This project has been funded by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

Dr Ataur Rahman from the School of Engineering is undertaking research to develop techniques to estimate floods in regional Victoria, through funding from Engineers Australia and the Victorian Department of Sustainability.

Associate Professor Allan White from the Centre for Educational Research has investigated the extent to which the Counting On 2008 numeracy skills program, operating under the Quality Teaching in the Middle Years program has been successfully implemented in NSW schools. This research was funded by the NSW Department of Education and Training.

Climate Change and Biosecurity (PDF File 82.3 KB) (opens in a new window)
Dr Liwan Liyanage from the School of Computing and Mathematics, along with colleagues in the School of Natural Sciences and at the University of Wollongong, has developed a computational framework to manage biosecurity information and is looking at the effects of climate change on biosecurity. This research has been funded by the Australian Centre of Excellence for Risk Analysis.

Dr Qingliang Tang from the School of Accounting is examining whether differences in financial reporting quality are related to differences in financial institutional structures in countries across the globe. This research has been funded by the Accounting & Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Dr George Morgan from the Centre for Cultural Research is looking at whether informal training programs for young indigenous men can lead to the development of skills suitable for employment. This research was funded by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.

Associate Professor Robert Spooner-Hart from the Centre for Plants and the Environment has been investigating the use of a variety of boards in the bottom of beehives to increase hive strength, honey production and for pest management. This research was funded by the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation.

Professor David Tait from the Justice Research Group is collaborating with Professor Stephen Parker from the University of Canberra, Professor Terry Carney from the University of Sydney, and Professor Jane Goodman-Delahunty from Charles Sturt University to explore how the use of juries contributes to democracy and justice through a three year Australian Research Council Discovery Project grant.

Professor Louisa Jorm and Dr Hilary Bambrick from the School of Medicine are leading the OSPREY research program (Outcomes, Services and Policy for the Reproductive and Early Years) which will use linked health service data for research to inform improvements in health services for mothers, babies and children. This research was funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council.
