Events
Here is a list of our upcoming events for 2013:
Laureate Fellow Prof. Neeman (ANU) speaks at CRM
Professor Neeman will investigate aspects of derived categories and their applications in a wide swath of fields.
The talk aims to deepen our understanding of homological algebra, a tool that has proved useful in areas ranging from physics to the coding of information for computer transmission. The talk also aspires to create a thriving research presence in this modern vibrant field, inspiring more students in Australia to seek a career in mathematics and ensuring Australia has sufficient capacity to meet the mathematical challenges of the future.
Professor Amnon Neeman currently leads the Mathematical Sciences Institute’s Algebra and Topology group at The Australian National University (ANU) and is recognised as a world leader in developing the mathematical theories of algebraic k-theory, algebraic geometry, topology and homological algebra. Professor Neeman was awarded his PhD in Mathematics from Harvard University. He is currently a Professor of Mathematics at the ANU, an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and an editor of the Journal of K-Theory and Applied Categorical Structures.
The Australian Mathematical Society Early Career Workshop, 2013
The Workshop will include talks on new and emerging research problems and will provide advice on careers in mathematical sciences. The ECW is an excellent opportunity to think about your career in mathematics, discuss issues facing early-career mathematicians and statisticians, and meet others from around the country!
The annual AustMS Early Career Researcher Workshop will take place at the Waldorf Leura Gardens Resort in the beautiful Blue Mountains west of Sydney, on the weekend September 28-29, 2013 immediately prior to the 57th Annual Meeting of the Australian Mathematical Society.
