Autumn School of Engineering – Gateway to Engineering 17 April 2013
The School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics will host fifty Year 11 and 12 students on 17 April 2013 from schools in the Sydney area. The venture is the initiative of Engineers Australia and Rotary and is an opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in Engineering.
The Autumn School will take place at UWS Kingswood with a range of activities planned to highlight some of the aspects of engineering. Activities will focus on various fields where students will be using specialised equipment. There will opportunities for students to participate in hands on activities including a bridge building competition. The day is designed to expose students
Course Decision Day
The School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics took part in UWS Course Decision Day on Thursday 3 January 2013, from 4:00pm til 8:00pm at UWS Parramatta campus. The event was aimed at Year 12 students who were undecided about their study path, and needed to speak one on one with our academic course advisors to help them make their important decision.
Australian Health Informatics Summer School
The University of Western Sydney hosted it's 3rd Australian Health Informatics Summer School between 4 to 8 February 2013. The Summer School consisted of a series of short courses to address the needs of:
- Clinical Professionals such as doctors and nurses
- Healthcare administrators and support personnel
- Computing and information systems professionals
- Researchers and postgraduate students in Health, Business, Computing and Science
Review Your Maths Week
Review Your Maths Week runs in the first week of Autumn Session from Tuesday 26 February to Friday 1 March, 2013. Students can boost their basic maths skills by attending free one-hour workshops.
Students need to register online in order to attend a workshop. Registration opens on Thursday 14 February, 2013.

Hi Tech Fest
The School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics will be participating in the UWS HiTech Fest, a Careers Expo on Wednesday 13 March 2013, that targets Engineering, Industrial Design and Computing students in the final year of their degree.
This event, to be held at Penrith (Kingswood) campus, will provide students with the perfect opportunity to start planning for their future careers when they meet face to face with employers. They will gain insights into employment, and be offered the chance to network with important industry contacts. They will be able to seek assistance from the Careers and Cooperative Education team in developing their resume and interview skills. Presentations will be given by keynote speakers from a range of industry professionals.
Registration to attend is essential.
You will be in the draw to win Apple iPads and iPods, as well as other great prizes, when you register to attend.
Graduate Careers Expo
The School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics will be participating in the UWS Graduate Careers Expo, a Careers Expo on Friday 22 March 2013, that targets Business, Law and Computing students in the final year of their degree.
This event, to be held at Parramatta South campus, will provide students with the perfect opportunity to start planning for their future careers when they meet face to face with employers. They will gain insights into employment, and be offered the chance to network with important industry contacts. They will be able to seek assistance from the Careers and Cooperative Education team in developing their resume and interview skills.
