UWS Astronomers Help Solve More of the Universe's Mysteries
A discovery of unexpected phenomena in neighbouring galaxies by a team at the University of Western Sydney may also help to explain a long-standing mystery in astronomy.
Associate Professor Miroslav Filipović, from the UWS School of Computing and Mathematics, has lead a team of Australian and American scientists who have found a new class of object which they call 'super planetary nebulae'. Read more about A.Professor Miroslav's research project.
A New Study By UWS Mathematician Reveals Drug Resistance in Tuberculosis
Interdisciplinary research involving mathematical models, new statistical methods and computer simulations can lead to important new results in many areas of science. In a new study published in the top journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA, the UWS mathematician A.Prof. Andrew Francis from the School of Computing and Mathematics studied drug resistance in tuberculosis together with several biology and statistics colleagues from UNSW. Read more about A.Professor Andrew Francis' study.
