What you get

$5,000 per year for three years, plus one-on-one mentoring from the donor.

Who should apply?
Commencing students pursuing full-time study in the Bachelor of Business and Commerce, with the intention to pursue a Human Resources specialisation, should apply for this scholarship.

About the donor:

AH Revelations is a management consulting business established in 2003, focusing on leadership development, talent management, change management, recruitment and retention. Services provided to clients include keynote speaking on the topics above, workshops, facilitation, strategic advisory consulting services, executive coaching and mentoring.

Avril Henry, the Managing Director and Owner of the business, is an experienced speaker, facilitator, coach and is highly respected in Australia, New Zealand and Asia in the human resources and leadership development fields. Avril is the author of Leadership Revelations: An Australian Perspective and The Who, What, When and Y of Generation whY? and has contributed to a recent book titled ideas: original perspectives from leading thinkers.

In 2006 she won the prestigious Lifetime Achievement in Human Resources award at the Australian Human Resources awards. Her current clients include the Department of Defence, various state government departments in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania, BHP, IBM, CBA, AMP, AstraZeneca, Toyota, Eli Lilly, Wesfarmers, CEDA, Telstra and multiple industry bodies and associations.

To get the scholarship:

You must be a commencing student, starting at UWS for the very first time. Non-school leaver applicants will be considered on the basis of work experience and educational qualifications.

You must be applying for admission into the Bachelor of Business and Commerce through the Universities Admissions Centre at the close of on-time applications. Applicants should apply using the Group B – Donor Funded Scholarships Application Form available on the How to Apply webpages.

Where they are demonstrated, the following equity considerations will also be taken into account:

  • Being able to demonstrate financial hardship by being in receipt of a pension or allowance under the Social Security Act 1991, Veterans’ Entitlement Act 1986, or Abstudy, or be able demonstrate financial hardship by other verifiable means.
  • Being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin status
  • Having a disability – which includes physical, intellectual, psychiatric, sensory, neurological and learning disabilities
  • Being from a rural or isolated area – either having lived for the past three years or completed the final two years of schooling in an area with a population of less than 120,000
  • Being eligible for the category Women in Non-Traditional Areas of Study – DEST defines a ‘non traditional area of study’ as a field of study or type of course for which the percentage of female enrolments is less than 40%.

Selection:
The selection process involves an assessment of applications to determine candidates for interview, consideration of UAI score and equity issues, and interview of candidates.

Conditions:

Recipients must elect a Human Resources specialisation and maintain a credit average grade (GPA 5 .0) to remain in receipt of the scholarship.

Eligible courses:

Bachelor of Business and Commerce.
