Hawkesbury City Council Scholarship for Local Residents

hawkesbury_city_councilLocated in the Hawkesbury River Valley, Hawkesbury City Council is the largest local government area in the Sydney metropolitan and western Sydney regions and is home to one of the University’s oldest campuses at Richmond. Hawkesbury City Council aims to serve its community through the development of lifestyle, environment, access and opportunities for its residents. By building connections through supporting the lifelong learning of its people, the Hawkesbury City Council is committed to supporting future development of the area by providing a scholarship for a young local resident wishing to undertake tertiary education.

Available: There is one scholarship in 2009

Scholarship Benefits: $5 000 per year

Duration: Up to three years

Course(s): A range of full-time undergraduate degrees at the Hawkesbury Campus*

Eligibility to apply

Applicants must:

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
  • Be a commencing student starting at UWS for the first time;
  • Have completed their HSC not more than two years prior to commencement;
  • Have resided in the Hawkesbury Local Government Area for at least one year prior to their commencement at UWS; and
  • Must have attended a local high school in the Hawkesbury Local Government Area or a selective high school outside the area.

Application Process and Selection: Applicants should apply using the Group B – Donor Funded Scholarships Application Form available on the How to Apply webpages.

Selection of this scholarship will be determined on the basis of the highest UAI. 

Conditions of the Scholarship: Recipients must remain in full-time study (40 credit points of study per semester) and maintain a minimum GPA of five (credit average).

Recipients are expected to participate in up to five Hawkesbury City Council events or functions during their degree program.
