What you get

$5 000 per year for the duration of your course, excluding Honours

Who should apply?

Commencing students from the Blacktown City Council Local Government Area pursuing full-time study in any UWS undergraduate degree should apply for this scholarship.

To get the scholarship

You must demonstrate financial hardship. Your academic potential will be demonstrated by achieving a minimum UAI score of 80. Non-school leaver applicants will be considered on an equivalent basis, based on work experience and education qualifications.

You must have been a resident of the Blacktown Local Government Areas for the year prior to applying for the scholarship, and must be a current year HSC candidate, or have completed the HSC in the previous year if you took a gap year.

How to apply

Application Process and Selection: Applicants should apply using the Group B – Donor Funded Scholarships Application Form available on the How to Apply webpages.

Attach the following additional supporting documentation:

» A personal statement which demonstrates your leadership and community service activity (500 word maximum) by addressing the following points:

  • Leadership skills
  • Community service activity
  • Communication skills
  • Personal and professional goals

Your personal statement must be endorsed by a person who can support your claims. This may be your high school Principal, your Year 12 Advisor, the leader of a community service project you worked on, the President of a club or association you have contributed to, or someone in a similar position who has observed your achievements.

Selection

The selection process involves an assessment of applications to determine candidates for interview, consideration of UAI score and financial hardship, and interview of candidates.

Conditions for keeping the scholarship

Recipients must remain in full-time study and retention of the scholarship after the first year is subject to a minimum credit average being (GPA 5.0 or greater) maintained and reported to Council. Recipients must also continue to be a resident of Blacktown for the duration of the scholarship.
