SMExcellence 

The online learning portal for the School of Business

 SMExcellence is a free, on-line interactive platform for not only the small and medium sized business sector, but for organisations wanting to reach their clients /cohorts of students to increase learning, business sustainability and connection to the community and industry.

The objectives are to:

Develop and nurture partnerships with Federal and State Governments, Agencies, Peak Bodies, Industry and the community to –

  1. Access funds for innovative projects
  2. Access data for research
  3. Access the SME community for online learning assistance, particularly in the area of business management
    Through -
    • Establishing a leading learning design and content development capability for delivery of UWS units online
    • Involving students in engagement projects for work experience
    • Connecting academics with industry and the business community
    • Assisting PhD students with rich data on the SME learning community
  4. Support the University’s academic programs and delivery
    Through –
    • Developing products and expertise as a co-deliverer of e-government services
    • Building UWS brand through co-branding with government
    • Promoting the School of Business through SMEx engagement with the government, community and industry
    • Establishing an ongoing revenue generation capability for the School of Business
    • Supporting the School of Business to develop international markets and opportunities

  • http://toolkit.smallbiz.nsw.gov.au This is the Start, Run and Grow site for the Department of Trade and Investment, a flagship program, given funding priority by the Minister for Small Business
  • www.businessbuilding.com.au This is a DEEWR funded certified program to assist small businesses to gain the necessary financial and management school to be successful. This program is in partnership with BECA (Business Enterprise Centres Australia), Innovation Business Skills Australia (IBSA), Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE (NSIT), PriceaterhouseCoopers, Fairfax Community Newspapers and DEEWR.
  • www.winningbusinessonline.com.au A program aimed at assisting business to develop web-site skills, sponsored by AusIndustry
  • www.smexcellence.com.au The original program for trades aimed at financial literacy
  •  If you have access to vUWS, go an look at the Introduction to Business Law, a lecture program offering students maximum flexibility in learning Introduction to Business Law. In the trial program, the progress rate improved by ~15%.
