Welcome to the Academic Program of Property at the School of Business, University of Western Sydney.
The University of Western Sydney (UWS) has been offering its property degree for over 30 years. This is the Bachelor of Business and Commerce (Property). This property degree has an outstanding reputation and meets the accreditation requirements for API membership, API Certified Practicing Valuer status, as well as valuation registration with the NSW Office of Fair Trading.
The property degree is a 3-year business program, with a strong applied property focus. It is available both full-time and by correspondence. Key areas in the property degree program are property valuation, property investment and finance, and property development. Other business areas covered include accounting, law and building.
This sees UWS property degree graduates being employed in a wide range of areas in the property industry including valuation, funds management, asset management, property investment, property research, property development, corporate real estate, and commercial sales and leasing; both in Australia and overseas. Many UWS property graduates have developed their careers to become leaders in today’s property industry with the major property companies.
The property industry is an active supporter of the UWS property degree via scholarships (eg: Colliers, Stockland, Goodman, PCA) and numerous prizes (eg: API). Property industry leaders regularly give guest lectures in the property degree to further reinforce this property industry focus. Many students undertake work experience in the property industry whilst doing the property degree.
The property teaching staff at UWS have strong property industry linkages, so a key feature of the UWS property degree is an up-to-date knowledge of the property industry.
The correspondence (or external) version of the property degree enables those working in the property or property-related areas to do the property degree while they are working. It normally takes 4-5 years part-time. All course materials are on the UWS website for you, as well as online discussions with other students and staff. Students throughout Australia and overseas do this correspondence property degree.
