Social Work Graduate testimonial

Allison McAleer

There is definitely 'positive' discrimination towards students from UWS, particularly in my workplace as the level of skill, dedication and natural ability to relate and respond to clients and staff alike has been amazing.  My boss now is eager and willing to encourage students from UWS to come out on placement whereas before there was the belief that it would be very time consuming with little reward.  I am encouraged to pursue the option of a student placement from UWS provided it fits with the pace of the service at the time.

Studying at UWS nurtured my knowledge and understanding of the intricately diverse fabric of Western Sydney and the complexities that can be faced by a Social Worker in this area.

I'm now lucky enough to be in a position where I can offer guidance and support to fellow Social Work students and I find their enthusiasm and passion hugely encouraging.
