Associate Lecturer, Peace and Development Studies
Anca Stanculescu completed the Bachelor of Policing in 2007. While fulfilling the degree, she was awarded the ‘Policing and Governance’ Scholarship and studied a semester abroad at Keele University in United Kingdom, where she also undertook a criminology summer school, part of the Policing the City: Safety, Diversity and Communities Program. Anca went on to do her Honours in 2008 and was simultaneously completing her Masters in Policing, Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism at Macquarie University. Anca went on to tutor at the University of Western Sydney, units ranging from Juvenile Crime and Justice, Introduction to Criminology, Introduction to Crime and Justice, Prisons and Punishment and Gender, Crime and Violence. She has been appointed to her current position as an Associate Lecturer at UWS in 2011 and has coordinated both second and third year elective units, while also completing her PhD research on the comparative analysis of regulative social control of antisocial behaviour between England and New South Wales. Anca also lectures and tutors a criminology unit for the Diploma of Social Science at UWSCollege in addition to her teaching commitments with UWS.
Criminology, juvenile crime and justice, anti-social behaviour, young people and subjectivity.
Current PhD research is a comparative analysis of regulative social control of antisocial behaviour between England and New South Wales, with a specific focus on Youth Conduct Orders.
