The Foundational Processes of Behaviour program (FPoB) is a dynamic emerging research concentration within the school of Social Sciences and Psychology. It is comprised of seven research-active early-to-mid career researchers:
To conduct world-class, cutting- edge experimental psychology research that raises the UWS international research profile and helps make the UWS School of Psychology the first choice for engaged, research-led learning experiences from the undergraduate to higher-degree-research levels.
The FPoB cluster aims to produce high quality, high-impact research on the foundational processes that underlie human behaviour. We aim to increase basic knowledge as well as answer applied questions about the human brain and behaviour. In particular, our research is focussed into three programs that span the breadth of Psychology as a science;
Through these programs, our research answers questions about fundamental mechanisms of the brain and behaviour that have implications for all humans in terms of pure knowledge and applications, including mental health applications. The discovery of such fundamental mechanisms will benefit all humans by supplying greater understanding of human behaviour and setting the foundation for as yet unimagined applications. Our applied research will translate our current knowledge into better understanding and outcomes in a range of health and mental health related areas, such as macular degeneration and schizophrenia.
