Nuclear Magnetic Reasonance Facility

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Spectroscopy

The Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Facility at the university houses three nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers: (i) a Bruker Avance 500 MHz widebore spectrometer for very high resolution NMR imaging (aka MRI) and NMR diffusion measurements and high resolution magic angle spinning, (ii) a Bruker Avance 400 MHz spectrometer for diffusion measurements in low viscosity liquids and normal spectral identification of molecules, and (iii) a Varian 300 MHz spectrometer for routine usage. This Facility is amongst the best of its kind for NMR diffusion and MRI diffusion experiments. The staff of the facility are internationally recognised for the development and application of magnetic resonance based diffusion studies. The Facility is a node of the National Imaging Facility (www.anif.org.au).
