Sport and Exercise Science Facilities

Health science students

Sport and Exercise Science has the following freshly renovated facilities:

  • Three General Teaching and Research laboratories, that includes treadmills, Monark cycle ergometers, Velotron electromagnetically braked ergometer, expired gas analysis metabolic measurement systems, 12-lead electrocardiograms, computerised nitrogen washout and spirometry (lung function) systems, and mobile force platform with 5 metre walkway – analyses forces associated with gait, jumping and landing.
  • Research Laboratory - Wireless EMG System, power lab advanced teaching system and state-of-the-art motion capture and movement analysis systems
  • Biochemistry laboratory - blood gas and pH system and spectrophotometer
  • Cool room for thermoregulation research
  • Isokinetic muscle function testing room with KinCom - computerised isokinetic muscle function testing system
  • Weight training gym (recently expanded) - treadmills, cycle ergometers, rowers, power cage, Smith Machine and numerous free weights and machines 

Sport Science Students 

Personal Development, Health and Physical Education have the following facilities: 

  • Sports gym
  • Sports Science laboratory - Monark ergometers, powers and high speed video motion capture
