Dr Amitabh Gupta joined the University of Western Sydney in July 2010 as a Lecturer in the physiotherapy program. Prior to this he was an Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney. Amitabh is a sports physiotherapist who has worked in research, teaching and clinical practice. He is submitting his PhD thesis in 2010, having spent 3 and a half years based at the Australian Institute of Sport as a PhD scholar supported by La Trobe University and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Amitabh’s teaching and clinical experience are in the area of Musculoskeletal and Sports Physiotherapy.
Amitabh’s research interests are in the areas of lower limb motor control, muscle-tendon-unit mechanics properties and sports medicine. He received a co-funded PhD scholarship from La Trobe University and the AIS to conduct his doctoral research. His master’s level research investigated hip rotation strength and range of motion in dancers.
