Sue Reed

Biography

Dr Sue Reed is a certified Occupational Hygienist, in both Australia and USA, with over 28 years experience as both a researcher and an practitioner.

As specialist lecturer in occupational hygiene Sue has taught a number of units at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level which included occupational hygiene, noise assessment, air quality management, hazardous chemical management and occupational health management over the last 20 years.

Sue has authored or co-authored over 40 papers and conference presentations and more recently a chapter of a book. Sue has supervised over 200 coursework masters level projects over the last 15 years in occupational health and safety and currently supervises 3 research students in the field of occupational hygiene. In recent years, Sue has undertaken a number of research projects investigating the exposure of people in the work place to a range of airborne chemical and biological hazards and ambient air quality in respect to wood smoke and vehicle emissions.

In addition, Sue oversees a new air and noise quality laboratory at UWS, which has the facilities to monitor a range of air quality parameters and provides a variety of occupational hygiene services to industry.

Sue provides an occupational hygiene consulting service to industry in relation to the monitoring of noise and airborne pollutants.

Professional Activites
Currently Sue is on the organising committee of the AIOH2009 Conference to be held in Canberra, 5 to 9 December 2009. In this role she is looking after the scientific program. If you are interested in more information go to www.aioh.org.au.
