BAppSc(OT), MAppSc(Ergonomics), PhD
Catherine has been a part of the Occupational Therapy team at the University of Western Sydney since the program commenced in 1995. Catherine commenced her career in health care in the field of nursing. Following two years working as a registered nurse, she returned to study Occupational Therapy. Catherine has worked in the clinical areas of occupational rehabilitation, brain injury and spinal cord injury both overseas and in Australia. Her interest in workplace based rehabilitation led to graduate studies in ergonomics.
Catherine's doctoral research studies, through the University of Queensland, were in the area of the ergonomics of computer workstations, especially the issue of forearm support. She has conducted research and consulted on issues faced by intensive computer users in call centres. Catherine is currently involved in research on the use of outcome measures by allied health professionals, and is supervising a PhD student in this area. She is also interested in professional issues related to occupational therapy practice in particular in the area of injury management and work rehabilitation.
