Biography


Julia Bowman is a lecturer in Occupational Therapy in the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences. She has been part of the Occupational Therapy team at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) since 1997. Julia gained her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney in 1992. She worked as a Clinical Occupational Therapist at Mildura Base Hospital and Central Coast Area Health Service. Julia was the Occupational Therapy Manager at Sutherland Hospital prior to commencing work at UWS.

Julia undertook a master's degree by research at the University of Sydney which explored clinical outcomes research from the Occupational Therapists' perspective. She completed her PhD research at the University of Western Sydney on "The effect of a multifaceted educational intervention on allied health clinicians' outcome measurement behaviours". One of her roles in the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences is that of Honours Coordinator.

Julia was recently elected in 2010 for the role of Honours Coordinator for the College of Health and Science

Research


Julia is interested in allied health clinicians' outcome measurement, evidence based practice and goal setting behaviours. Julia is also interested in the development and psychometric testing of outcome measurement instruments.

Teaching Interests


Julia has teaching interests in the areas of outcome measurement, evidence based practice, goal setting, research methods and occupational therapy theory and processes. She also supervises honours students and co-supervises PhD students.
