Kristy graduated with first class honours from the University of Western Sydney (UWS) in 1998. Her research investigated post acute occupational therapy intervention with older adults. Since graduation Kristy has worked in acute, rehabilitation and outpatient settings primarily in the Sydney West Area Health Service. Kristy has been involved in program development, health evaluation research with people with chronic airway limitation, and represented allied health on area wide collaboratives. Kristy has presented papers at educational symposia as well as national and area health conferences. She joined the University of Western Sydney in 2005 as a casual lecturer and was appointed to a permanent part-time position in 2006.
Kristy is interested in research focusing on the education of occupational therapy students and their preparedness for work in a variety of occupational therapy practice areas. She is interested in research methodologies that use the lived experience of students and therapists.
Currently investigating the preparedness of first year occupational therapy students from UWS for their first occupational therapy practice placement.
Kristy teaches first year occupational therapy students, introducing them to the profession of occupational therapy and preparing them for their first occupational therapy practice placement.
Kristy received a Baxter Healthcare award for her involvement in an area wide pressure ulcer reduction collaborative (2005).
