Biography

Dr Peter Clothier joined the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences at the University of Western Sydney (UWS) in January 2006 as a Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Science. Prior to his current appointment he lectured in Sport & Exercise Science at the Waikato Institute of Technology in Hamilton, New Zealand, for a period of three years (2003 -2006). During this time Peter was awarded his PhD from the University of Ballarat, Australia. Peter also gained his undergraduate and honours degree qualifications in Human Movement from the University of Ballarat in 1993 and 1994, respectively.

Research

With a specialisation in Biomechanics, Peter’s main research endeavours are focussed on movement efficiency, sports performance and injury prevention. His Doctoral work examined underwater kicking following the turn in freestyle swimming while more recent areas of research have focussed on the efficacy of wearing graded compression garments during performance and leg stiffness during running.
