Zoran Pletikosa holds a degree in medicine from Croatia where he worked several years in general practice. After moving to Australia in 1994 he taught in medical science at various private colleges and universities. After completion of his postgraduate studies in health science education, Zoran was successful in securing a permanent position at UWS in 2005.
Zoran has since been lecturing in areas of:
Human anatomy & physiology
Clinical diagnosis and physical examination methods
Clinical neuroscience
Pathophysiology
Pharmacology
Blended learning and student performance and satisfaction
Problem based learning in medical science.
Current involvement in teaching is in areas of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience and diagnostic assessment methods.
Special interests are in education design and modes of delivery, adult learning theory and practice, development and application of computer-based learning tools and development of video-based learning materials.
Since 1995 Zoran has been involved in the area of HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C in ethnic communities through the "Multicultural HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C Education and Support Service" that operates as part of Sydney South West Area Health Service. The service delivers personal support and education to individuals and groups from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, develops educational materials and implements media work for raising awareness about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.
