Biography
Dr Ajesh George (BDS, MPH, PhD) is a dentist with experience in public health both internationally and in Australia. He is an expert in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and has extensive experience working with nurses/midwives, mothers and children. Dr George completed his PhD in 2009 after receiving a doctoral scholarship funded by the Australian Research Council. He has since been working as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Applied Nursing Research in the prestigious Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. His key area of research is on perinatal oral health and the role of midwives and nurses. In the past 3 years Dr George has been leading a multidisciplinary team of high profile clinicians/academics/researchers pioneering research in Australia focussing on promoting maternal and infant oral health through collaboration. This innovative research has been supported by key stakeholders including the NHMRC and has received significant media coverage. Dr George has received 12 grants since 2008, published in 25 peer reviewed journals (45% A, A* journals) and presented at various national and international conferences. He also co–supervisors a PhD student, mentors UWS research staff, lectures Nursing/Midwifery students and is an active reviewer for 8 international journals.
