Biography
Ben Imbun completed his undergraduate studies in Papua New Guinea and pursued post-graduate education in several Australian universities. He was employed for little over ten years at the University of PNG. He was Deputy Dean of the School of Business Administration for the last three years before he joined the School of Management, UWS as a Senior Lecturer in late 2003. He teaches in the areas of employment and industrial relations and human resource management. These are also his core research areas. Recently he has added corporate social responsibility, labour market analysis and rural agricultural development to his research portfolio. Almost all his research and publications pertain to Papua New Guinea in particular and Pacific Islands Region in general. He has made the PNG mining industry as his mainstay of research examining employment, HRM and lately CSR issues, therefore becoming one of its leading scholars. As a result he has written three books and published numerous papers in referred journals. He has also presented many papers in conferences. His labour market research culminated in examining labour market issues such as minimum wage, employment, labour legislation and informal sector as it pertains to PNG and Pacific Island Countries. Currently, he is a core member of a team of researchers engaged in a large research project, funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, investigating economic livelihood strategies of plantation owners, small growers and workers in PNG?s coffee, cocoa and oil palm industries.
