Biography

 

Dr David McInnes’s career in higher education spans three decades. He is a skilled and experienced academic leader and manager, researcher, writer and teacher.

Over the course of his career, Dr McInnes has been responsible for significant course development and redevelopment processes, leading teams of academics through processes of curriculum and pedagogical design. He has also been responsible for and skillfully executed the development, implementation and improvement of quality assurance systems for educational programs and for the administrative systems that support quality educational delivery. He is skilled in risk management as a core part of educational quality assurance.

Dr McInnes’s research over the three decades of his career has been dominated by his passionate interest in education. His passion centres on the transformative capacity of education. His passionate scholarly engagement with educational research is manifest in his collaborative and action-based research into community education and literacy education. His commitment to scholarly educational research also drives his critical engagement with modes of education in the pedagogies of yoga and in higher education, most recently his research-led development work in entrepreneurial education.

Dr McInnes is a gifted and innovative teacher with a student-centred approach to learning. He has a practiced commitment to quality teaching and learning through constructive alignment, especially through innovations in interactive and engaged forms of delivery and assessment.
