Biography

Erin Kruger joined the University of Western Sydney as lecturer in sociology and criminology in July 2009 from the University of Alberta, Canada, where she completed a Social Science and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) funded PhD in socio-legal studies and epistemology on the topics of DNA, forensic science and criminal law. Prior to this, she received a MA in sociology from the University of Alberta (2004), and a BSc in chemistry from the University of Regina, Canada (2000). Erin primarily researches in law and society, and science and technology studies, with a wide range of research interests including forensic science, criminal law, evidence, history and philosophy of science, social theory, and cultural theory. Her current research, entitled 'Between Science and Law', challenges the predominant view of criminal law and forensic science as separate disciplines by considering the interconnected nature of these relations through the often stabilizing, but equally contingent, nature of visual evidence.
