Biography
Garth Lean is a researcher and teacher in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology at the University of Western Sydney. He holds an applied science degree in environmental management and tourism, an honours degree in tourism management and an interdisciplinary PhD in travel/tourism. Garth has worked in tourism planning and marketing with local and state governments. His research interests include travel, tourism, mobile identities, imagination, transformation, cultural heritage, visual methods, online research and alternative presentations of travel and travel research. He has published a variety of papers on travel and is currently developing the edited volumes Travel and Imagination (Ashgate), Travel and Transformation (Ashgate) and The Poetics of Travel (Berghahn Books) with Russell Staiff and Emma Waterton.
