Biography

S Gulay Avsar has a first class honours degree in economics from the Middle East Technical University, Turkey, a post-graduate qualification in operations research and a PhD in Economics from Monash University. She was previously a sessional lecturer at University of New South Wales, a Lecturer in mathematical economics and econometrics at Victoria University, Melbourne and a research fellow in Economics at Monash University. She has a research interest in the economics of futures markets for commodities and financial instruments, and is co-author of papers published in Applied Financial Economics, Economic Record and Australian Economic Papers, and of book chapters with leading publishers. She has presented papers at international conferences, including the European Economic Association, the European Financial Management Association and the World Congress of the International Economic Association.
