Biography

I have Ph D in Agronomy from Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana (India) and have done international course in Development Oriented Research in Agriculture (Farming Systems Research) from Wageningen, Netherlands. I worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow/Research Scientist at Adelaide University, Research Agronomist in NSW Agriculture Department, Sr Research Fellow/Research Fellow/ Research Officer at UWS and Assistant/Associate Professor at Punjab Agricultural University (India). During more than 30 years research experience I have researched the following areas, conducting and managing on-farm field and glasshouse experiments in agronomy of crops (wheat, barley, canola, chickpea, peanut, pastures etc), soil fertility & nutrient management, genetic/varietal variation in crops to tolerate low-nutrient soils, agricultural and urban water management, soil salinity, soil acidity and the use of green manures/organic manures for the sustainable production systems and environmental protection. I have published more than 70 research papers in international peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and have extensive experience in project management, writing funding applications and project reports. I have experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment in Australia, India, Zimbabwe and China. I have also reviewed research papers for international journals namely Plant and Soil, Agricultural Water Management, Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, Rangeland Ecology & Management, Journal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, International Journal of Farming Systems Research and Extension.
