Biography

Ingrid is an active member of faculty who held a number of senior appointments at UWS, including Acting Director of the Centre for Applied Finance, Course Coordinator of the Master of Applied Finance, Course Coordinator of the Honours Program in the School of Economics and Finance, as well as Memberships of the Board of Studies of the College of Law and Business, the College of Business and Law Research and Higher Degree Committee, and the College of Business and Law Peer Review Committee. She currently is Co-ordinator Community Engagement for Economics and Finance.

Since joining UWS in 1996, Ingrid has taught a wide range of subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level, both in Economics and Finance as well as in Education. She has developed and is coordinating the unit Economics and Finance Engagement Project, where groups of students undertake a real life consultancy project for a community or industry partner, complete with tender documentation, project management tools, final report and results presentation to representatives from the partner organisation, government officials and senior academics. The partners so far included the economic development departments of Fairfield City Council, Parramatta City Council, Strathfield Council, Auburn City Council, Springwood Neighbourhood Centre and the social enterprise Mars Hill Cafe. Ingrid is also the Academic Faculty Advisor for the international student-run organisation Enactus (formerly SIFE, Students in Free Enterprise) and teaches the SIFE cohort in the unit Experiential Learning in Communities.

Ingrid's research has covered a wide range over the years, including publications and papers on issues as diverse as international debt crises, the Australian superannuation system, financial literacy, health economics, homelessness, debates in feminist theory, various aspects of the Vietnamese economic transition, community-engaged teaching, work-integrated learning and mentoring programs. She was a member of the Social Justice Social Change Research Group and is now an associate member of the Sustainability and Social Research Group. She is currently developing a joint research project with partners in Egypt and Germany to identify which key success factors of mentoring programs are transferable between cultures and communities.

Ingrid devloped and established the Lucy Mentoring Program in 2004, together with colleagues from The University of Sydney, Women Chiefs of Enterprises International and the then NSW Office for Women.
