Biography
Dr Jim Basilakis is a Senior Lecturer in Health Informatics at the University of Western Sydney from 2010. He has a strong passion to develop software solutions in healthcare with a focus on decision support applications operating in an enterprise environment. Through commercial and academic roles, he has developed solid experience in enterprise architecture specification and design, implementing scalable reporting solutions and decision support systems that integrate with distributed e-Health systems. He is proficient in TGA regulatory requirements for Good Management Practice and the ISO 13485 standard.
In past and present roles as a practicing medical doctor, he has developed an intimate knowledge of the tertiary health care industry and its work practices in most clinical areas through employment and accredited training positions in internal medicine since 1994. This experience has extended in 1999 into the primary care sector through a Medical Director role for an innovative telehealth company whose solutions are routinely applied in areas across GP practice; community care; occupational health and residential care. He has broad exposure to different work environments ranging from clinical work, to commercial industry and to research work through his previous academic role at the University of NSW since 2000.
