Dr. Jann Foster is a Registered Nurse and Midwife with over 25 years experience, holds a Masters in Health Science Education, and completed her PhD in 2011. Jann has substantial experience in education and as a researcher and  coordinator of research projects at the local, state, national and international level. Her research and teaching roles accounting for 100% of her time over the past 15 years. She was the NSW Coordinator for  the Wombat Collaboration (WoMen and Babies Health & Wellbeing: Action through Trials) Project to assist researchers design and develop their research projects. She was also the NSW Coordinator of highly successful Australia-wide Practice Evidence Gap Project that established a process for using evidence to support practice change in the pain management of newborn infants in Australia. Jann led the evaluation stage of this Project. Jann has led her own research projects that have investigated practical aspects of neonatal care. Her work undertaking over 15 neonatal Cochrane systematic reviews has also resulted in her providing recommendations critical to safe and effective clinical practice.

Jann has over 30 peer-reviewed journal publications and she is currently a Co-recipient of Department of Health & Ageing Project Funding (2009-2012), and National Health & Medical Research Council Funding (2012-2013) for the Australasian Satellite of the Cochrane Neonatal Review Group.
